Lights Out!

April 16, 2009

I learned a new trick – Lights Out! The book said it would take about a week to learn, but I learned it in one night. Because I am so smart! And there were treats involved.

    Through the Hoop

    July 17, 2008

Because it is so hot outside, my human decided to teach me a new trick – jump through the hoop! She showed me a giant circle, which I sniffed, and then she held it up and said “Through the hoop!” She had a lot of treats ready because she thought it would take me a long time to learn, but I showed her! I learned it right away!

    I’ll Get It

    May 26, 2008

I like to play outside – there are many fun things to see and smell. Sometimes, though, the toy that I want to play with is not outside. But I know how to let myself in and go get it!

    Open Sesame

    March 18, 2008

Sometimes my human goes around the house touching everything with a big fuzzy stick, and pushing a noisy machine across the floor, and putting things away (she calls this “cleaning”). When she is done, all of my toys are trapped! So I have to let them out.

    Magic Words and Phrases

    January 6, 2008

I know lots of magic words and phrases! Some words mean a person, place, or thing, like “Jake”. That is my name, and when my human says it, she means me. A lot of words mean that I am supposed to do something (or stop doing something!). And there are magic phrases that mean something exciting is going to happen – those are the best!

Words that mean a person, place or thing

    Jake
    Brusca
    Treat

    Mounds *

Words that mean I’m supposed to do something

    Shake
    Lay down
    Roll over
    Up
    Stay
    Come
    OK
    Hush

    Guard the house
    Go for ride
    Get in the car
    Guard the car
    Go see Brusca

    * This is the place where we get my food, and I get to go in – yay!
** Kind of like no, but more like I’d better find something new to do
*** Means “no” inside the house, means “get back on course” when out walking
**** When my human says this, I run up the stairs after her, because it means she is changing her clothes and putting on jeans or sweatpants, so she is home for the night and will play with me. Yay!
***** “Work” is what my human does during the day when she puts on fancy clothes and goes away. When she says this, I am very happy, because it means she’s going to play with me all day!
